I am that rare species, a North Carolina native. I have lived in these wonderful mountains most of my life. I am an avid hiker and in my younger years, backpacker. One of the best features of the Haywood County/ Waynesville/ Maggie Valley area is our proximity to hiking, kayaking, skiing, or just riding on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The area is surrounded by The Great Smoky Mountain National Park, The Blue Ridge Parkway, The Pisgah National Forest, and The Shining Rock and Middle Prong Wilderness Areas.
All these areas feature hundreds of hiking, riding, and mountain bike trails. If you love nature, as I do, you could not live in a better place.
